Round 19 preview: Hawthorn v Collingwood
Hawthorn and Collingwood face off at the MCG this Saturday for round 19 in a huge clash between two AFL finals contenders.
The Hawks are slight favourites at $1.85 with PlayUp, while the Magpies are $1.97 with Bet365. Top AFL bookmakers expect a close affair, with the line set at just 1.5 points.
Last Saturday, Hawthorn secured a vital win against Fremantle in Launceston. Trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, the Hawks kicked six of the last seven goals to keep their finals hopes alive.
With nine wins from their past 11 matches, Hawthorn are one of the form teams in the league. However, as they sit 13th on the ladder, top AFL betting sites have them at odds of $3 to make the finals.
Former Magpie Jack Ginnivan is a chance to be recalled after missing the last two weeks due to injury, while Hawks tagger Finn Maginness is also in the frame given his excellent history against Nick Daicos. Wingman Massimo D’Ambrosio is in doubt with an ankle problem.
Collingwood suffered their third successive defeat last Friday night, going down to Geelong by 20 points at the MCG. After a close first half, the Magpies conceded five of the last seven goals as their midfield was comfortably beaten.
Dropping down to 12th on the AFL ladder, it is all falling apart for the defending premiers. With a long injury list and a tough run of fixtures, online bookmakers are giving Collingwood odds of $3.50 to make the top eight.
In some positive news, the Pies could regain the key-position trio of Dan McStay, Jeremy Howe and Mason Cox as they return from injury. Small forward Lachie Schultz is one confirmed change as he enters concussion protocols.

Hawthorn v Collingwood R19 betting strategy
On form, it is hard to look past Hawthorn in this clash. Sam Mitchell’s men are playing an exciting brand of footy, while Collingwood have struggled to match it with the top sides this season. As slight favourites, back the Hawks to win at $1.85 with PlayUp.
Thrown into the forward line for the second half last Saturday, Hawthorn skipper James Sicily was the match-winner with three goals. The Hawks lack height up front, so there is a good chance the veteran will spend some time there again this week. As a full-time defender these days, Sicily offers excellent value to kick two or more goals at $3.75 with leading Australian bookies.
Averaging 31 disposals over the last two weeks, wingman Steele Sidebottom has been a standout despite the Magpies’ poor form. With the Daicos brothers expected to receive plenty of attention, back the veteran to continue his solid run with 25 or more disposals at $2.15 with top sports betting sites.
