GWS v Gold Coast R19 preview
The GWS Giants will be looking for their third consecutive victory this Saturday afternoon as they host the Gold Coast Suns in round 19 of the 2024 AFL Premiership season.
The Giants are $1.40 favourites with online bookies after comfortably beating Richmond by 24 points last Sunday. Kicking their highest-ever score at the MCG, it was a solid all-round effort from Adam Kingsley’s men. Tom Green (37 disposals) and Lachie Whitfield (35 disposals) had plenty of the footy, while Toby Greene and Jesse Hogan kicked four goals each.
With the win, GWS have worked their way back up to seventh on the ladder. However, with two games between them and 13th place, the pressure is on the Giants to maintain their winning form.
The Giants will be missing tagger Toby Bedford for the next three weeks after he was suspended, leaving Xavier O’Halloran or Jacob Wehr as the likely replacement.
Gold Coast were also successful last Sunday, beating Port Adelaide by 14 points at home. In a close game, it was the Suns’ midfield that proved the difference as they won both the clearance and tackle count. Sam Flanders and Noah Anderson combined for 59 disposals and two goals, while the Suns had 10 individual goalkickers.
This result means the Suns remain unbeaten at home this season. However, they have also lost their last 14 away games, which explains why AFL betting sites have them at $3.20 to win this weekend.
The Suns have lost Malcolm Rosas and Alex Davies to suspension, while Ben Ainsworth is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Captain Jarrod Witts is a test to return in the ruck, while Lachie Weller is a chance to play his first game of the season.

GWS Giants v Gold Coast Suns predictions
Over the past two weeks, the Giants have rediscovered the form they showed in the early stages of the season. Facing the Suns, who have not won on the road all season, back GWS to cover the line of 17.5 points at $1.91 with Bet365.
GWS captain Toby Greene is the most dangerous forward in this clash after kicking nine goals in the last three weeks. He has booted multiples on eight occasions this season, including a five-goal haul against the Suns in round four. At $2.60 with top online bookmakers, back the small forward to kick three or more goals.
Roaming across half-back, Gold Coast’s Sam Flanders has the second-highest disposal average in the AFL this season. The 22-year-old has collected over 30 touches on 10 occasions in 2024, including six of his last seven games. Back Flanders to collect 30 or more disposals at $1.90 with leading Australian bookies.
