The St Kilda Saints will look to win their fifth-straight AFL match this Friday night when they face the GWS Giants at Manuka Oval.
Leon Cameron’s Giants were torn apart by the reigning premiers in round five, as Melbourne barely broke a sweat while crushing GWS by 67 points.
Brett Ratten was forced to sit at home and watch his Saints secure a victory last round, as the fourth-year St Kilda coach was stuck in isolation during their 26-point win over the Suns.
The Saints sit fourth on the AFL ladder after five rounds and have scored the second-most points in the league, behind only the Brisbane Lions, which is a huge tick following a subpar 2021 campaign.
Unfortunately for the Giants, their 2022 season has gotten off to a very rocky start at 1-4, with their only win coming against the Suns in round three.
One player who is capable of turning their downward momentum around is Toby Greene, who is finally free to play this weekend after serving a suspension from the back end of 2021.
Greene is a notable match-winner who will be eager to make an instant impact in the forward half, while ruckman Brayden Preuss is also ready to go following a suspension of his own.

Key matchup: Sam Taylor vs Max King
Max King kicked three goals against the Suns last time out, but it was his impressive work-rate up the ground that caught our eyes. Sam Taylor is a mobile key defender that also enjoys venturing outside the 50, where he can use his aerial prowess to intercept and punish.
Lachlan Keeffe has the height to handle King when he is deep one-on-one, but we think Taylor is the better option for when the St Kilda star decides to make a move up the ground. Either way, the key to victory for the Giants is to stop King from getting hot, as he can kick goals in quick succession and take a game away the opposition in a flash.
GWS vs St Kilda match prediction
This will be the first real test for the Saints this season after beating a handful of mediocre teams so far. The desperate GWS Giants have plenty of game-winners on their list, but we think the Saints have finally built a winning brand that stacks up well against the better teams. The fluid ball-movement from the back half is becoming a trademark for the Saints, who should notch their fifth-straight win this Friday night in Canberra.
St Kilda by 1-39 points
GWS vs St Kilda total points betting
Both sides love to move the ball quickly around the ground and score in waves, which often leads to high scores. The last clash between these sides at Manuka Oval was a 184-point contest, and we anticipate something similar in round six. The Saints are the second-highest scoring team in the league, while the Giants have conceded the third-most points.
Over 163.5 total points
GWS vs St Kilda same-game multi tips
The Saints should start well and lead at the first break in what will be a thrilling contest between two aggressive sides. St Kilda will get the job done, but there should be plenty of scoring at either end.
St Kilda 1-39 / Over 163.5 pts / St Kilda -0.5 (QT)
