Grey Missile to again prove toughness

trent edmonds
Co-trainer Trent Edmonds believes Grey Missile’s toughness will help him in the Goldmarket.

Former top country sprinter Grey Missile will need to call on his renowned toughness to win his first Goldmarket Handicap and give his owners a second victory in the Gold Coast feature.

Grey Missile is owned by a group headed by North Queensland’s Tom Hedley which also races Tyzone, the winner of last year’s Goldmarket.

When trained by Roy Chillemi in North Queensland, Grey Missile won nine races including country Queensland’s top sprint, the Cleveland Bay Handicap.

Grey Missile was transferred to Toby and Trent Edmonds late last year and won at the Sunshine Coast at his first start for the training partnership.

He has had one run since when he was stuck three-deep before being beaten a nose in an Open Handicap at Doomben.

Grey Missile has drawn wide in Saturday’s Goldmarket which will have a capacity field.

Trent Edmonds said it had been a tough run at Eagle Farm and Grey Missile was entitled to drop out.

“He was super. I was genuinely upset because he was so tough,” Edmonds said.

“He will have to be tough again but he is at his best trip. Grey Missile has won ten races and five of them have been at 1300 metres.”

“Here’s hoping for a bit of luck.”
