Grand campaigner Eremein dies at 18
Eremein (l) winner of the 2005 Australian Derby among other G1 races, has died aged 18.
Five-time Group One winner Eremein has died aged 18 of colic.
Robrick Lodge said the gelding died at the property on Sunday.
Trained by Allan Denham for Geoff and Beryl White, Eremein won the 2005 Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby.
The following autumn he added the Ranvet Stakes, BMW and Queen Elizabeth to his Group One record.
His career was interrupted by the equine influenza outbreak in 2007 and he was retired after his final start, the 2008 Festival Stakes in January 2008.
“It is with profound sadness we say goodbye to our old mate Eremein,” Robrick Lodge said.
“A horse of character talent manners and of great heart, he remains the only horse to have won the Ranvet, Queen Elizabeth and the BMW in the one year.
“Bye old mate.”
