It is now or never for the Gold Coast Suns if they want to make their debut appearance in the AFL finals this year, but the task will not be easy this Saturday against the Richmond Tigers at Metricon Stadium.
The Suns were narrowly defeated by Collingwood last weekend in a match that went down to the wire, a devastating blow for the young squad who sit just two wins outside the top eight.
Damian Hardwick’s Tigers did enough to hold off a valiant West Coast unit, but the win came at the expense of a few key outs.
Dustin Martin was the biggest story to come out of the match after he was subbed with hamstring soreness, which scans eventually revealed was a two-week strain.
Nick Vlastuin is another Tiger who will sit out this week following a one-match suspension, while the Suns did not suffer any major setbacks to their best 22.
Key matchup: Sam Collins vs Tom Lynch
It is no secret Sam Collins and Tom Lynch do not like each other. Lynch kicked five goals against the Suns last season in a clinical display, but it was not enough to get his side the victory. Collins has been in great form over the last few weeks and is finally starting to receive some recognition for his excellent defensive efforts. Collins and Lynch will both want to best the other this weekend, which should result in a must-see contest in the goalsquare.
Suns vs Tigers margin betting odds
The Tigers look somewhat vulnerable this weekend without Dustin Martin and Nick Vlastuin in the side. The Suns should have won against the Pies last week given how well they executed out of the midfield, and a repeat of that effort should be enough to knock off the Tigers this weekend.

Tom Lynch goalkicker betting tips
Although Tom Lynch has been exceptional for the Tigers in 2022, he seemed out of place last weekend against the Eagles in the high-scoring affair. Even when Lynch was unable to truly impact the contest, he still walked away with a pair of goals against a strong defender in Tom Barrass. Lynch will have it in him this weekend to smash his old side, who he has kicked 10 goals against across three matches.
Tom Lynch 3+ goals
Gold Coast vs Richmond same-game multi
Izak Rankine is turning into a genuine star with his elite skills in the front half, and he looks a good play to snag a couple of goals this weekend. Tom Lynch will also put on a show for his old fans, but it will not be enough to inspire the Tigers to victory.
Gold Coast 1-39 / Lynch 3+ goals / Rankine 2+ goals
