AFL Round 4: Gold Coast Suns vs Adelaide Crows preview
The Gold Coast Suns host the Adelaide Crows in a clash between two undefeated teams as Round 4 of the 2025 AFL season rolls on this Saturday.
Top AFL bookmakers are expecting a close matchup, with the line set at just 4.5 points. At $1.72, the Suns are slight favourites at home, while the Crows are at $2.15.
The Suns put together a statement performance last Saturday, beating the Demons by 58 points at the MCG. Led by a stellar performance from midfield duo Matt Rowell (36 disposals) and Noah Anderson (35 disposals, one goal), the Suns led at every break and never looked like being overcome.
For a side that has never made finals, 2025 looks like the Suns’ best chance yet. They have a star-studded midfield, with key pillars at either end. Leading AFL betting sites give the Suns $1.80 odds to finish in the top eight.
Adelaide were also impressive last weekend, beating North Melbourne by 36 points at home. Despite a close first half, the Crows rarely look troubled as they extended the margin at every break. Half-back Rory Laird led the way with 32 disposals, while veteran key forward Taylor Walker booted four goals.
With three big wins to start the season, the Crows are heavily favoured to break their own finals drought, which stretches back to 2017. They average 136.6 points per game, but this weekend shapes as their biggest test. At $1.25, major sports bookies are bullish on the Crows to make the top eight.
Gold Coast vs Adelaide team news – AFL Round 4
The Suns are set to regain small forward Ben Ainsworth after he recovered from a quad injury. Meanwhile, they may look to tall defender Caleb Graham to counter Adelaide’s trio of tall forwards.
Adelaide will need to replace livewire Josh Rachele after he suffered broken ribs against the Kangaroos. Top draftee Sid Draper is tipped to be promoted from the substitute role, while wingman Luke Nankervis is a likely inclusion after he dominated in the SANFL last weekend.
Gold Coast vs Adelaide AFL R4 betting predictions
With both sides in great form, this is a tough match to pick. However, the Suns finished 2024 with one of the best home records in the AFL, while the Crows are known for their struggles on the road. Although Adelaide have shown plenty of quality, back the Suns as slight favourites.
Gold Coast Matt Rowell has had a super start to the 2025 season, bolting into Brownlow Medal contention with leading AFL bookies. The No.1 pick from 2019 is averaging 33 disposals per match as he thrives in the contested game. At $2.30 with Unibet, back Rowell to continue his good form with 30 or more disposals.
Crows forward Riley Thilthorpe has made a very promising start to the season, booting three goals in each match. Besides his excellent marking and finishing skills, he also gets more footy than Adelaide’s other tall forwards. Back Thilthorpe to continue his good form with three or more goals at $4.25 with Neds.
