Geelong v Port Adelaide match preview
On Saturday night, the Port Adelaide Power travel to Geelong to take on the Cats at GMHBA Stadium in round 21 of the AFL. With both teams on losing streaks, the loser of this match faces major consequences for their season.
Last weekend, the Geelong Cats hosted the Fremantle Dockers and went down by seven points in a major upset. After keeping the Dockers goalless in the first quarter, the Cats then lost each of the remaining three. A low-scoring affair, the Cats will feel they let one slip, with key forward Jeremy Cameron kicking 1.5 on the day.
Geelong have now slipped out of the finals positions and face a tough run home, with all four of their remaining opponents sitting inside the top eight.
The Power faced off against the Crows last Saturday night in the ‘Showdown’, losing by 47 points in a disappointing display. Starting off slow and only getting worse throughout the night, the margin extended as the Power could not stop the Crows attack, with Taylor Walker booting seven goals.
Three straight losses now leave Port Adelaide’s position in the top two vulnerable, with the chasing Brisbane Lions and Melbourne Demons a game behind and waiting for the Power to slip up again.
Adding to their defeat, the Cats also lost tall pairing Mark Blicavs and Tom Hawkins to hamstring injuries last weekend. Mid-sized forward Oliver Dempsey had 29 disposals and five goals in the VFL, while big-bodied midfielder Mitch Knevitt may also be in the frame to return.
The Power have had defensive pairing Aliir Aliir and Lachie Jones ruled out after they clashed heads last weekend. Power captain Tom Jonas is tipped to return after playing in the SANFL last weekend, while ruckman Scott Lycett is also in the mix as he works back from a knee injury.

Geelong v Port Adelaide betting strategy
These two sides played each other back in round 14, with the Power winning by 38 points thanks to a big second half. On that day, it was the midfield where the Power took the greatest advantage, while their tall forwards were too strong for the Geelong defence.
However, heading to GMHBA Stadium is one of the toughest away trips in footy. The Power have just two wins from 15 games there, with the most recent coming back in 2007. With an ever-growing injury list and recent poor form, the odds are stacked against the Power this weekend. Back the home side at $1.58 with Palmerbet.
With veteran forward Tom Hawkins ruled out of this one, expect youngster Ollie Henry to fulfil his role against the depleted Power defence. Averaging 1.7 goals a game this season, Henry has only been held goalless once and looks a good bet for two or more goals at $1.80 with top AFL betting sites.
Collecting over 25 disposals in five of his last six games, Dan Houston has been a model of consistency for Port Adelaide. With the Power coming in as underdogs, it is safe to say Houston will see plenty of the footy across half-back. At $1.77, he shows great value to gather 25 or more disposals.
Key matchup: Jeremy Cameron v Trent McKenzie

Coming off 1.5 last weekend, Jeremy Cameron will be looking to make amends. Without fellow tall Tom Hawkins, Cameron will be the primary target inside 50 for the Cats. Known for getting up the ground, expect him to spend more time deep in the forward line looking to get one-on-one with his direct opponent.
With Aliir Aliir out this weekend, expect key defender Trent McKenzie to take the matchup on Cameron. Slightly undersized, McKenzie will rely on sound positioning and the help of his teammates in the marking contest. Also look for him to run off Cameron in possession and rebound the Power into attack with his booming kick.
