Geelong Cats v Hawthorn Hawks Round 6 preview
Geelong are starting to heat up as they prepare for a traditional Easter Monday showdown against Hawthorn at the MCG.
The Cats were clinical against the Crows last week winning by 19 points, and look even stronger with the return of Tom Stewart. Their ball movement and forward-line chemistry have clicked in recent weeks, with Oliver Dempsey and Jeremy Cameron in great touch.
The Hawks, by contrast, are coming off a bruising loss to Port Adelaide and face another steep challenge here. This will test their ability to tackle the top four teams and prove the league wrong after last week’s performance.
Top AFL bookmakers have Geelong as slight favourites; however, this is a very tight contest for the top four.
Cats v Hawks R6 team news
Geelong will welcome back Tom Stewart after a late out last week due to illness, while Jake Kolodjashnij is expected to return from a groin injury. Cam Guthrie has no return date for his achilies injury as of yet. Jack Henry and Tanner Bruhn remain out, while ruck prospect Mitch Edwards is back in light training but still weeks away from a return.

Hawthorn are likely to remain largely unchanged this week but will regain Jack Scrimshaw from suspension. Conor Nash (wrist) and Connor Macdonald (ankle) are both listed as tests and could return if they get through training. Will Day and Mitch Lewis still remain long-term absentees.
Geelong v Hawthorn predictions
Geelong are in red-hot form, and the -1.5 line at $1.90 with Picklebet looks like strong value against a competitive Hawthorn outfit. While this shapes as a tight contest, expect the Cats to edge clear and cover the line.
Oliver Henry quietly built a solid record against the Hawks, averaging 1.8 goals and kicking two or more in three of his last five meetings. At $2.85 with online bookmakers, he’s well worth a look to hit that mark again.
Oliver Dempsey made the wing his own this season and have a proven track record against Hawthorn, averaging 22.5 disposals. Back him to collect 20 or more at $2.20 with Neds.
