Fremantle v Adelaide AFL match preview
Round three of the 2024 AFL Premiership season continues with a Good Friday clash at Optus Stadium as Fremantle host the Adelaide Crows.
The Freo Dockers continued their winning form last weekend as they secured a 26-point victory on the road over North Melbourne. Trailing by as much as 32 points in the second quarter, Justin Longmuir’s men were able to go on a run of nine straight goals, turning momentum their way before running out as comfortable winners.
Entering this game as betting favourites with AFL bookmakers, don’t expect many changes for the Dockers. They got through last weekend unscathed, while many of their key injuries are still at least a week away.
It was another disappointing loss for the Adelaide Crows in round two as they went down to Geelong by 19 points at home. Still winless after two outings, the pressure is rising on a side that showed plenty of upside in 2023.
With limited injuries, the Crows shouldn’t be forced into any changes this weekend. However, given the slow start from many of Adelaide’s fringe players, highly touted draft prospect Daniel Curtin is a chance to make his debut.
Fremantle v Adelaide betting strategy
Starting the season with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2015, the Dockers should be full of confidence heading into this one. It should be a strong midfield battle and an exciting ruck duel, but the Crows will need to overcome their poor attacking form if they are going to threaten an upset. Adelaide were poor on the road last season, and although this match should be close, back the home side at -200 with top online bookmakers.
A major part of the Crows’ two losses so far has been their ball use inside 50, with intercepting defenders from both the Suns and the Cats feasting on their poor entries. As the primary interceptor in the Freo defence, Luke Ryan stands out as the most likely to benefit from Adelaide’s poor disposal. Averaging 28 disposals per game, expect the defender to continue his hot start to the season with 25 or more touches at +100 with Unibet.
Another Docker having a stellar start to the season is 23-year-old Caleb Serong. With hauls of 46 and 35 disposals, the midfielder has been able to roam free and collect the footy at will. Combining well with ruckman Luke Jackson, Serong offers great value to have 35 or more disposals at +250 with the best AFL betting sites.
