Fremantle v Geelong match preview
A top-four spot is on the line this Saturday afternoon as Fremantle host Geelong in round 22 of the 2024 AFL Premiership season.
The Dockers fell in heartbreaking fashion last Sunday, going down to Essendon by one point at the MCG. Having led by as much as 25 points early in the final term, Fremantle conceded four of the last five goals as they crumbled under pressure.
With the loss, Justin Longmuir’s men have fallen down to sixth on the ladder. However, they have won each of their past four home matches, so it is no surprise to see them as favourites for this clash at $1.55 with BoomBet.
The Dockers are missing Josh Treacy (knee) and Tom Emmett (suspension) from the forward line this week, while James Aish and Neil Erasmus have been dropped. Veteran on-baller Nat Fyfe returns from suspension, with Matthew Johnson, Karl Worner and Patrick Voss also earning recalls.
Geelong continued their recent good form last Saturday, beating the Adelaide Crows by five points at home. Led by six goals from key forward Jeremy Cameron, the Cats fought off a late comeback from the Crows to secure their fifth win in six weeks.
Sitting in fifth spot with three games to play, Geelong are paying $2.25 to finish in the top four. However, facing a tough away trip to Perth, they are slight underdogs for this clash at $2.55 with Unibet.
After going down against the Crows, Geelong key defender Sam De Koning sits out due to a knee injury. Veteran defender Jed Bews returns to the reserves, while Mitch Duncan and Gary Rohan are back on deck.

Fremantle v Geelong betting predictions
With just one home loss all season, the Dockers should be full of confidence as they look to bounce back. They are the best defensive side in the AFL, while their midfield and ruck combination should be too strong for the Cats. At $2.10, there is value in the Dockers to win by less than 40 points with major Australian betting sites.
Fremantle midfielder Andrew Brayshaw has taken his game to another level in the last five weeks, averaging 33.6 disposals in that stretch. The vice-captain has collected over 30 disposals on 10 occasions this year and averages 29.7 touches in his last three matches against the Cats. Back Brayshaw to continue his good form with 30 or more disposals at $1.87 with leading AFL bookmakers.
Now the clear favourite in Rising Star betting, Geelong’s Ollie Dempsey has been a breakout star of the AFL this season. The 21-year-old averages over 17 disposals per game but is also damaging in front of goal, kicking eight in his past seven games. At $1.80 with top online bookies, back Dempsey as an anytime goalkicker.
