Francis Ngannou wants Fury rematch, predicts victory over Usyk

Tyson Fury

Francis Ngannou has his sights set on a rematch with Tyson Fury and will be cheering the Brit on in his clash against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh this Saturday night.

The former UFC heavyweight champion made a move to boxing in 2023, coming close to defeating Fury in his debut bout.

Boxing betting sites had the Cameroonian a heavy underdog to lose against Fury, but he was able to knock down the then-heavyweight champion and narrowly lost on a split decision.

While Ngannou has since lost in a one-sided clash against former heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua, the 38-year-old is eager to continue in boxing.

“I’m not coming back because I never left – I’m still around,” Ngannou said on Friday.

“What I do know for sure is that I want a rematch with Fury.”

Fury takes on Usyk in a rematch of their title fight earlier this year, which was also a split decision, this time against the Brit.

Ahead of their first fight, Fury had been a marginal favourite to win, but boxing bookmakers now give Usyk the edge in outright betting ($1.72 to $2.10 at BetOnline).

Ngannou, however, believes that Fury will exact his revenge.

“Who do I think wins? I think Fury,” he said.

“Not that I’m taking Usyk out.

“Much respect for Usyk for what he has done, and for their first fight.

“To be honest, he proved me wrong.

“I’ll admit that. I was wrong on that one.

“But I still go for Fury.”

Top betting apps put an Usyk decision ($3) at the shortest method of victory odds.

The Ukrainian winning by knockout ($3.75) is the next most likely way the fight ends, ahead of Fury winning by knockout ($4).

The Fury v Usyk event kicks off on Saturday evening in Riyadh, though the pair are not expected to make their rings walks until approximately 2am local time on Sunday morning.
