Forster excited about summer hopes
Desleigh Forster is going to the races with a renewed sense of excitement with her stable stars gearing up for the Queensland summer.
She had a good winter with solid stakes performances by now four-year-olds I’m Belucci, Too Good To Refuse and Cylinder Beach.
Too Good To Refuse resumes in the Queensland X-Ray Open (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.
“I always enjoy going to the races. But when you have your quality horses back racing it is more than enjoyable. It is exciting,” Forster said.
“Last week my good three-year-old filly Meadow ran really well and this week Too Good To Refuse is back.”
“Then I have my Group winning gelding Cylinder Beach ready to race and I’m Belucci, who has been placed twice in Group Ones, is also back in the stable.”
“It makes getting up early in the morning worthwhile when on a Saturday you have real chances in good races.”
Forster said she had two options with Too Good Top Refuse who won the Toowoomba Guineas and was second in the Gunsynd Classic during the winter.
“He will have his next start after Saturday in the Keith Noud Quality in a fortnight. Then he might press on to the summer triple crown of the George Moore Stakes, Lough Neagh Stakes and Bernborough Stakes,” Forster said.
“But the other option is to chase a wild card entry for the Magic Millions race day. There is a wild card race on Bernborough Stakes day (December 31) which gets you into the Magic Millions Cup worth a million dollars.”
Forster said Saturday’s distance would probably be too short for Too Good To Refuse but she expected him to be running home hard.
Jim Byrne has been riding Too Good To Refuse in trackwork and will have the rides this summer.
“Jimmy seems keen to ride him all summer and he will handle him on Saturday,” Forster said.
Forster has a share in Too Good To Refuse who is also raced by Meadow’s owner/breeder Basil Nolan and his family.
“Too Good To Refuse is still a stallion and a few good wins might make him a breeding proposition,” Forster said.
