Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix 2023 betting preview and top bets
The 2023 Formula 1 season continues this weekend as we head to Qatar for the first time since its inaugural race in 2021. In one of six sprint weekends in 2023, it also presents an opportunity for Max Verstappen to confirm his third straight title after a dominant year so far.
Last race in Japan it was much of the same for Verstappen, who basically led from start to finish as he secured all 26 available points, whilst his closest rival and teammate Sergio Perez was unable to finish the race. But despite the heroics from Verstappen, the most impressive team of the weekend was McLaren, who had their first dual podium finish since 2021, including a first career podium finish for rookie Oscar Piastri.
Having won the only other race held in Qatar before, Lewis Hamilton now faces a different fight this weekend as he chases second-placed Sergio Perez in the drivers’ championship. While Mercedes is also looking to hold off the improving Ferrari team for second place in the constructors championship.

Both Ferrari drivers to finish top 6
With the track offering a long straight and vast overtaking opportunities, this race looks set for another Max Verstappen victory in both the main race and the sprint. As these bets offer limited value with the top online bookmakers, we look into the rest of the field for some other intriguing markets:
With the Ferrari’s looking vastly improved since the summer break, they present a chance at being the second-best team this weekend. Scoring over 25 points per race in each of the past three weekends, the Qatar track looks set to give them an advantage over the Mercedes-powered teams due to the long straights. Look for the Ferrari’s to be strong in qualifying, setting themselves up for both drivers to finish in the top six.

Lando Norris Podium Finish
After finishing second in each of the last two races, Lando Norris has shown that he can get the most out of the McLaren car. On another track filled with fast-speed corners, McLaren should have the advantage throughout those sections of the track. But the straight-line speed of the McLaren may lead to struggles overtaking and being overtaken. With some exceptional qualifying performances so far, look for Norris to be right in contention again for a podium in Qatar.

Alexander Albon Points Finish
Since his promising return from the summer break with two point finishes, Alexander Albon has struggled with poor qualifying and reliability in the two races since. Vastly outperforming the expectations of the car and his teammate, Albon is always a chance to score points at any race. With the long straight favouring the Williams straight-line speed, look for Albon to be around the lower points-scoring positions.
