Final fields for Derby day at Flemington

Toorak Handicap winner Tosen Stardom headlines a field of 14 for the $1 million Group One Kennedy Mile and will jump from barrier nine.

The Japanese import will be joined in Saturday’s 1600m-handicap at Flemington by his Darren Weir-trained stablemate Lucky Hussler who has the widest barrier and will be backing up seven days after winning the Crystal Mile.

Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller has six runners including mares Egg Tart (barrier 10), Omei Sword (eight) and Shillelagh (two) who is fourth emergency for Saturday’s Myer Classic.

The Group One Myer Classic (1600m) for fillies and mares has a capacity field of 16 plus four emergencies with dual Group One winner Global Glamour drawing barrier three.

Last year’s winner I Am A Star has the inside draw while Group One winner Silent Sedition has barrier four and Foxplay has gate 12.

The Coolmore Stud Stakes over the straight 1200m for three-year-olds has a full field of 20 runners with Golden Rose winner Trapeze Artist drawing on the outside section in barrier 18 with Group One-winning filly Catchy directly to his inside.

Unbeaten Godolphin colt Viridine has the inside draw while his James Cummings-trained stablemates Kementari and Malahat have barriers 12 and eight respectively.

Saturday’s meeting features four Group One races headlined by the $1.5 million Victoria Derby.

The Derby field of 16 plus one emergency was finalised on Tuesday with Ace High and Main Stage the equal favourites.
