Field of eight for G1 Australian Guineas

Queensland star Alligator Blood and New Zealander Catalyst headline the field of eight for the Group One Australian Guineas at Flemington.

Alligator Blood has drawn barrier two for Saturday’s $1 million race for three-year-olds over 1600m while Catalyst is set to jump from barrier four.

The pair staged a stirring duel in the C S Hayes Stakes (1400m) at the same track two weeks earlier, with Alligator Blood prevailing narrowly.

C S Hayes Stakes third placegetter Chenier has barrier five for the Guineas in a field which also features last-start Group One C F Orr Stakes-winning colt Alabama Express.

Alabama Express has drawn barrier six.
