F1 Singapore GP Market Movers: Norris gets leg up on Verstappen
The Singapore Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix (GP) main race is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2024, with the race set to start at 10:00PM AEST, and after a typically sensational F1 qualification and practice sessions, the grid positions are locked in.
After a McLaren and Ferrari dominated Baku, let’s have a look at the events that led us to race day and what might mean in terms of F1 betting opportunities ahead of Sunday.
Ferrari and McLaren shine in Singapore GP Post Practice session
Following 3 great practice sessions, we’ve seen 2 teams excel. Ferrari and McLaren both look to be the best teams here after taking out the top 3 in almost all practice sessions, with Lando Norris toping FP2 and FP3 and Charles Leclerc taking out FP1.
Mercedes finally showed some speed in FP3 after a disappointing FP1 and FP2, with the 7-time world champion complaining in both sessions about severe sliding with the rear tires. George Russell took the top spot for a brief moment in FP3 before a stellar lap from bookmaker favourite Lando Norris.

Singapore GP Betting After Qualifying Session
One of the most interesting Q3 this year with an accident early on put a hold to the session and made most drivers divert to a 1 lap fast lap to determine the top 10 positions on the grid.
Second in the drivers championship, Lando Norris takes this round’s Pirelli pole position, besting his main rival Max Verstappen by 0.203s.
On a track that is well known for its trouble for overtaking, if Norris can make it through the first chicane in front, he should be able to covert this pole into a win for his championship battle against Verstappen.
Lando Norris was paying -109.89 before qualifying and has been smashed in to -188.68 with Neds to win here in Singapore.
Ferrari had a disaster class with both drivers at the bottom of the top 10 here, with Sainz crashing early in Q3 and Charles Leclerc’s lap time deleted after exceeding track limits on turn 2.
Mercedes pulled a miracle in qualifying after complaints from both drivers in all free practice sessions, and during qualification they have locked out the second row and will be looking for that sweet double podium by hunting down Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton was paying +700 for a podium finish but has opened at -120.48 after a successful qualifying session for the 7-time World Champion.
Max Verstappen was able to secure a front-row start here in Singapore, which is his best start here and will be looking to have his best finish.
Max Verstappen was at an outrageous +1000 after all Practice sessions and is currently paying +300 for the win here with PlayUp.
