F1 Monaco Grand Prix race preview & betting tips | May 26, 2024
The 2024 F1 World Championship continues this weekend with the most famous race on the calendar as we head to the streets of Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix.
At just 3.337km, this is the shortest track of the season, yet with the narrow corners and lack of full-throttle straights, it often ends up being one of the longest races of the year.
Practice kicks off at 9:30pm AEST on Friday, May 24, with the main race scheduled to start at 11pm on Sunday, May 26.
Last Sunday in Imola, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen returned to winning ways, finishing just 0.725 seconds ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris in the closest result of the season so far. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium, while Oscar Piastri finished fourth to secure an excellent points haul for McLaren.
As a result, Verstappen has extended his lead at the top with 161 points, with Leclerc (113) leading the battle for second place ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez (107) and Norris (101).
Monaco Grand Prix 2024 odds
After the recent upgrades for both Ferrari and McLaren, Verstappen’s odds have come out to -151.52 — his longest of the season so far. Norris has secured four podiums in his last five races, while Leclerc has secured consecutive third-place finishes. While it seems that all Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren drivers are competing for the podium, the Aston Martin and Mercedes racers offer more value for a top-six finish.
- Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – -151.52
- Lando Norris (McLaren) – +500
- Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – +500
- Oscar Piastri (McLaren) – +1100
- Sergio Perez (Red Bull) – +1600
- Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) – +1600
- Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) – +6600
- George Russell (Mercedes) – +8000
- Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) – +8000
- Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) – +10000

2024 Monaco Grand Prix betting strategy
Despite being known for his struggles on race day around his home circuit, qualifying has been a different story for Charles Leclerc. He started his home race on pole in both 2021 and 2022, and with the Red Bull looking increasingly vulnerable to the rapidly improving pack, it offers the perfect opportunity for the Ferrari driver to start on pole for the first time this season. In the most important qualifying session of the year, Leclerc offers great value to start on pole at +300 with F1 betting sites.
Having qualified on the front row in Imola before receiving a three-place grid penalty, Oscar Piastri will feel he was robbed of a podium finish. With the upgraded McLaren looking very impressive, the Aussie driver will be right in the mix again for a top-three finish, offering great value at +137 with top online bookmakers.
Having earned points in four of the last five races, RB’s Yuki Tsunoda has emerged as the best of the rest. With Mercedes and Aston Martin both struggling, there is a great opportunity for the Japanese driver — sitting 10th in the driver standings — to secure more points. Tsunoda is a strong qualifier, and on a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult, he offers great value for a points finish at +110 with Marantelli Bet.
Charles Leclerc pole position
Oscar Piastri podium finish
