F1 Dutch GP Market Movers: Norris favourite with pole position

Formula 1 Dutch GP Market movers

The Dutch Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix (GP) main race is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2024, with the race set to start at 1:00PM GMT, and after a typically sensational F1 Qualifying (Quali) and practice sessions, the grid positions are locked in.

After a long Summer break from F1, lets take a look at the events that led us to race day and what might mean in terms of F1 Betting opportunities ahead of Sunday.

The Dutch GP is Max Verstappens home town race held at the Zandvoort Circuit, making it a sea of orange colours and red bull shirts for the hometown favourite. Verstappen has always been successful in Zandvoort since its return in 2021, winning all three races since then.

Zandvoort is known for its banked corners, with the famous turn 14 having 18 degrees of elevation coming around into the pit straight, which is extremely uncommon for F1 circuits and makes the track very unique to watch.

Zandvoort is typically known as a track where not too much overtaking will unfold, making Quali a necessity to be successful on Sunday with a strong race.

Dutch F1 Zanvoort Betting after Qualifying Session

With almost two useless practice sessions from Zandvoort with the rain delaying FP1 and a crash from Logan Sargearnt delaying FP3 for over 40 minutes, there isn’t too much data to analyse after the summer break.

Mercedes and McLaren look like the teams to beat here in Zandvoort after FP2, with both teams continuing their strong form and taking out the top 4 for FP2, closely followed by Verstappen.

In the end, it was Lando Norris who broke Max Verstappen’s pole streak at Zandvoort, securing the Pirelli Pole Position with an impressive qualifying time of 1:09.673, shifting his odds from +187 to -142.86 as the new bookmaker favourite, closely followed by hometown hero Verstappen at +175.

Mercedes post and underwhelming showing after the strong FP2 times and has Team Principle Toto Wolf shaking his head in disappointment watching Lewis Hamilton get bumped to P12.

    Lando Norris win

Norris will be coming in to this race tomorrow with extreme confidence after the summer break and is the one to beat. If he can master the daunting first corner, Norris should have this race in the bag unless teammate Oscar Piastri can fight at the front with him.

    George Russell podium finish

George Russell had a mediocre showing, although making it through to Q3 has fans stunned as they expected Mercedes to be fighting at the front but were half a second away from pole. Russell has done far greater things before and there is no reason Russell cant go from P4 into the podium.
