EPL Matchweek 33 preview, betting tips & goalscorer picks
An exciting weekend of English Premier League action awaits as the race for the title intensifies. Here are our free EPL betting tips and predictions for all 10 games of Matchweek 33.
Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur
Saturday, April 13 – 9:30pm AEST – St James’ Park
Level on points with Aston Villa but fourth on the table by goal difference, Tottenham will be looking to create some breathing room with a win over Newcastle. Although Spurs are strong favourites with EPL bookmakers, Eddie Howe’s charges will battle spiritedly in their race for a European place. This fixture has produced 30 goals in the last six meetings, so we can expect plenty of action at both ends.
Both teams to score
Brentford v Sheffield United
Sunday, April 14 – 12am AEST – Gtech Community Stadium
With just three wins this season, bottom-placed Sheffield United have the monumental task of fighting for Premier League survival with seven games remaining. They may have forced a draw with Chelsea on Sunday, but the Blades are still nine points away from safety. Although both teams are winless in their last seven EPL games, Brentford — who are four points above the drop zone — will see this as an opportunity to secure all three points.
Brentford to win
Burnley v Brighton & Hove Albion
Sunday, April 14 – 12am AEST – Turf Moor
Burnley host Brighton in a match where one side is fighting for survival and the other is pushing for a European place. Burnley are second from bottom on 19 points, while Brighton are five points behind West Ham in seventh. Both teams could use all three points; however, they have finished all square in six of their last 11 Premier League meetings.
Draw
Manchester City v Luton Town
Sunday, April 14 – 12am AEST – Etihad Stadium
Pep Guardiola’s quest to secure a fourth successive Premier League crown will receive a massive boost when Manchester City host Luton Town. The champions head into the bout third on the table, just one point behind Liverpool and Arsenal. With just seven games to go, every single goal will count, which is why City will win convincingly against relegation-threatened Luton.
Man City to win both halves
Nottingham Forest v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Sunday, April 14 – 12am AEST – The City Ground
Sitting 17th on the table after their points deduction, only goal difference is keeping Nottingham Forest out of the danger zone. Wolves sit 11th with a game in hand on the field, and they could still secure a European place with a decent run of results. Eight of the past nine games between these sides have had two goals or fewer in total, and there is value in backing that trend to continue.
Under 2.5 goals
Bournemouth v Manchester United
Sunday, April 14 – 2:30am AEST – Vitality Stadium
Manchester United’s draw with Liverpool last Sunday leaves them in sixth, a distant 11 points behind Spurs and Aston Villa. Bournemouth, who are eight points below United in 12th place, will be hoping to complete the double having thrashed the Red Devils 3-0 in the reverse fixture. With both sides maintaining only one clean sheet in their last five league games, expect plenty of goals.
Over 2.5 goals
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Sunday, April 14 – 11pm AEST – Anfield
After failing to conquer Old Trafford last Sunday, Liverpool cannot afford any more slip-ups if they wish to keep pace in the title race. Crystal Palace also need a win, albeit to move further away from the relegation fight, as they are only five points above safety. Liverpool should win, but it is worth mentioning that both teams have scored in three of their last five meetings.
Liverpool / Both teams to score
West Ham United v Fulham
Sunday, April 14 – 11pm AEST – London Stadium
West Ham, on a quest to secure European football, will be hoping to avenge their 5-0 hammering by the Cottagers during the reverse fixture. Fulham, winless in their last three games, may face headwinds against a Hammers outfit that has lost only one of its last seven EPL matches. Soccer betting sites are paying decent odds for West Ham to win at home.
West Ham to win
Arsenal v Aston Villa
Monday, April 15 – 1:30am AEST – Emirates Stadium
Sitting top of the table, Arsenal will be hoping for three solid points against an Aston Villa side chasing a Champions League place. The Gunners have only lost four times in the Premier League this season, one of which was the reverse fixture at Villa Park. Nonetheless, Mikel Arteta’s side should win this bout, with star winger Bukayo Saka leading the charge.
Bukayo Saka anytime goalscorer
Chelsea v Everton
Tuesday, April 16 – 5am AEST – Stamford Bridge
Although they are unbeaten in their last seven league games, ninth-placed Chelsea have drawn four of those. Everton, sitting two points above the relegation zone in 16th place, have lost three of their last five away games. With both sides having their vulnerabilities, expect a tightly contested encounter.
Both teams to score
