EPL Matchweek 3 best bets & specials – August 21-23 games
After six games are played overnight on this coming Saturday, Premier League fans will be treated to four games spread out from Sunday night to Tuesday morning (AEST). We have already covered our best bets for Saturday’s EPL games, and now it’s time to dig into the rest of the slate for Matchweek 3.
West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion
These two teams define the physicality of Premier League soccer and they are both very tough to play against. Brighton have started off their season very well and already have a win against Manchester United under their belt. Even so, West Ham away will prove to be quite a test for them. The Irons have more motivation given they’ve stumbled out of the gate, and that could be the difference in this game.
We are only two games into the season, but West Ham sit in a relegation spot. After an opening-weekend loss to Man City, the Hammers followed it up with a disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest. Now, they sit with zero points through two games and they need to pick up their performances. We have faith in this team, as West Ham have been very consistent over past seasons. This summer transfer window, the London club was very active and did a lot of good business. There has been an adjustment period and now we expect the Hammers to bounce back.

Newcastle United vs Manchester City
The first two weeks of the season, Erling Haaland’s anytime goalscorer odds were around -200 with most online bookmakers. For some reason, they have gone out for this game, and that makes it a great value bet. Haaland scored twice in Matchweek 1 and then was kept off the scoresheet in Matchweek 2. However, he had plenty of chances to score and City still won 4-0. That led to City not playing as aggressively once they got out to a big lead. Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world and he has elite playmakers feeding him the ball. Newcastle are decent, but they will struggle to find answers to limit this unstoppable City attack. Haaland should have plenty of opportunities to score and as long as his odds are in this range, he is a great bet to score in any game.

Manchester United vs Liverpool
This is the game of the weekend as two historic clubs will be squaring off. To this point, both of these teams have been disappointing, and we only have faith in one of them to turn it around. Liverpool have shot themselves in the foot through the first two weeks and have only managed two draws. They simply have too much talent to falter again, and given the state of United’s season, Liverpool may win by multiple goals. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz have been dangerous to start the season, yet the Reds have been slightly unlucky when it comes to actually putting the ball in the net. We expect them to figure it out and take care of a hapless United defence.
Through the first two games of the season, United have yet to secure a single point. They lost 2-1 to Brighton in Matchweek 1 and then followed it up with an abysmal 4-0 loss to Brentford. Changes need to be made and it doesn’t appear like United have the options to reinforce their defence. Against Liverpool, United will once again be on the back foot and their defence simply isn’t good enough to contain Liverpool’s attack. While it may be foolish to write United off this early in the season, they are clearly undergoing a morale crisis and Liverpool should take advantage of that.

EPL futures: Liverpool to win the title
Prior to the kickoff of this season, Liverpool and Manchester City were neck-and-neck in Premier League title futures odds. After the first two games, Liverpool have faltered and City have dominated. Now, Liverpool sit at +400 with BetOnline to hoist the title at the end of the season, and it feels like those odds should only get shorter from this point on. Manchester City will be tough to catch, for obvious reasons, but Liverpool are the only team with the talent and resources to match them. At +400, it’s worth a shot.
