EPL Matchweek 28 preview, betting tips & top odds
The thrilling 2023/24 Premier League season continues this weekend with a top-of-the-table clash between Liverpool and Manchester City taking centre stage. Here are our EPL betting tips for Matchweek 28.
Manchester United vs Everton
Saturday, March 9 – 11:30pm AEDT – Old Trafford
After suffering their second consecutive loss last weekend, Manchester United have now fallen six points behind the fifth-placed Tottenham. Back at home this week, Erik ten Hag’s men need a vast improvement against relegation candidates Everton. With one win from their past 14 games, the odds are stacked against the visitors, but given United’s injury concerns, Everton should still trouble the scorers.
Manchester United / Both teams to score
Bournemouth vs Sheffield United
Sunday, March 10 – 2am AEDT – Vitality Stadium
After their brutal 6-0 defeat to Arsenal on Monday night, the misery continues for Sheffield United. Heading to Bournemouth this weekend, it is hard to see anything changing given the Blades suffered a 3-1 loss in the reverse fixture. Keep an eye on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, who should add to his season tally of 14 goals against this terrible defence.

Crystal Palace vs Luton Town
Sunday, March 10 – 2am AEDT – Selhurst Park
Luton Town head on the road this week in search of vital points against the struggling Crystal Palace. After their fifth successive defeat, Luton are now four points from safety, but a win over Crystal Palace earlier this season should give them confidence. With both sides struggling defensively, expect opportunities at both ends, but in particular watch out for Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze after he returned from injury last weekend with a goal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham
Sunday, March 10 – 2am AEDT – Molineux Stadium
Coming off consecutive wins against Brighton and Manchester United, Fulham head to the Molineux in hopes of continuing their solid run. Sitting just three points above Fulham, Wolves have been solid recently with three wins in their past four games. Each of the visitors’ past five matches have gone over the total goal line, while the reverse fixture ended 3-2, so we can expect plenty of action at both ends.

Arsenal vs Brentford
Sunday, March 10 – 4:30am AEDT – Emirates Stadium
With their two title rivals facing each other on Sunday, Arsenal have an excellent chance to put the pressure on with a win over Brentford. The Gunners have scored 24 goals in their past five matches and are on a seven-match winning streak. After missing out in their 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday, expect Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka to get back on the scoresheet this weekend.
Bukayo Saka anytime goalscorer
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur
Monday, March 11 – 12am AEDT – Villa Park
With serious top-four implications, this match is destined for action at both ends. Aston Villa have gone over the total goals line in each of their past seven matches, while the visitors have gone over in each of their past nine. On a run of three consecutive wins in this matchup, Villa should be too strong as constant defensive errors continue to plague Tottenham’s season.
Aston Villa / Both teams to score
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest
Monday, March 11 – 1am AEDT – American Express Stadium
Having pushed for a top-six position for most of the season, Brighton find themselves in ninth after winning just one of their past five matches. Back at home this week, they are expected to get back to winning ways as they welcome the struggling Nottingham Forest. After their heartbreaking defeat to Liverpool last weekend, Forest now have just one win from their past seven matches and look set for another tough match as their relegation fight continues.
Brighton & Hove Albion to win
West Ham United vs Burnley
Monday, March 11 – 1am AEDT – London Stadium
After their loss to Bournemouth, Burnley have now gone 10 matches without a win and look set for relegation. Heading to London this weekend, they face an in-form West Ham side coming off consecutive victories. This is an excellent chance for the Hammers to push for the top six, as Burnley have not scored in any of their past three matches.
West Ham to win to nil
Liverpool vs Manchester City
Monday, March 11 – 2:45am AEDT – Anfield
In the most important match of the Premier League season so far, it’s first versus second as Liverpool host Manchester City. After both sides secured comeback victories last weekend, there is just one point separating the two teams. While City have a largely clean bill of health, Jurgen Klopp’s men have an extensive injury list which may prove costly as both teams come off short breaks due to midweek European ties.
Manchester City to win
Chelsea vs Newcastle United
Tuesday, March 12 – 7am AEDT – Stamford Bridge
Two of the most inconsistent sides in the competition face off on Monday night as Newcastle United look to keep their European dreams alive at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle should be confident after their 3-0 win over Wolves, although Chelsea have lost just one of their past 12 matches at home. With both sides holding great attacking records this season, expect a shootout.
Over 3.5 goals
