EPL Matchday 21 betting preview, top odds & goalscorer tips
In the midst of all the domestic cup action, the Premier League returns this weekend after a week off. In a split round this weekend, we are treated to five matches of top English football action. Here are our top picks for Matchday 21 of the 2023–24 Premier League season:
Burnley vs Luton Town preview
Saturday, January 13 – 6:45am AEDT – Turf Moor
A critical match in the relegation picture, Burnley have an excellent opportunity here to get closer to safety as they welcome Luton Town. Luton have worked their way into form lately, winning two of their past three league matches while going down narrowly to both Arsenal and Manchester City. With the unpredictability of matches involving the bottom sides, the safer bet here is the over, with both sides showing major concerns defensively all season.
Over 2.5 total goals
Chelsea vs Fulham preview
Saturday, January 13 – 11:30pm AEDT – Stamford Bridge
Sat in tenth with an ever-growing injury list, pressure is rising on Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is now expected to win the West London Derby this weekend. After beating Arsenal in their last match, Fulham will be looking to play in a similar fashion this weekend as they sit in behind and look to score on the break. With the unpredictability of both sides, it is hard to back a winner, but Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been in excellent form with eight goals so far this season and he looks the best bet to score here.

Newcastle United vs Manchester City preview
Sunday, January 14 – 4:30am AEDT – St James’ Park
On a three-match losing streak and sliding down the table, it won’t get any easier for Newcastle this weekend as they welcome the defending champions. Whilst Newcastle have been heavily impacted by injury for this clash, City are set to be boosted by the return of star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. Playing at St James’ Park, City’s odds are boosted a little bit, but for added value, look to pair it with the total goals as the best attack in the Premier League faces a side that has conceded eight goals in their last three matches.
Manchester City / Over 2.5 total goals
Everton vs Aston Villa preview
Monday, January 15 – 1:00am AEDT – Goodison Park
Narrowly holding on to their top four position, Aston Villa face a tough away trip to Goodison Park on Sunday. The surprise packet of the season so far, Villa sits second on the table having lost just once in their last nine matches. They face an out of form Everton, who have lost their last three and are in a relegation fight as a result of their points deduction. As the in-form side Villa should be too good here and offer great value as they play away from home.
Aston Villa to win
Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Monday, January 15 – 3:30pm AEDT – Old Trafford
The most anticipated clash of the weekend, the red-hot Tottenham head to Old Trafford with hopes of jumping back into the top four. Tottenham will be a much different side without captain Heung-Min Son but should be much more composed defensively with the return of Micky van de Ven and the debut of new signing Radu Dragusin. United have won just once in their past five matches, and although they have the home advantage, they should struggle here.
Tottenham to win
