English Premier League round 22 betting preview, top odds & tips
The packed English football schedule continues as we are treated to 10 matches of mid-week Premier League action. Below are our free tips and previews for Matchday 22 of the 2023/24 Premier League season:
Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal preview
Wednesday, January 31 – 6:30am AEDT – The City Ground
Sitting third on the table, five points behind Liverpool, Arsenal know that to keep any title hopes alive, they need a successful away trip here. A bogey side for Mikel Arteta’s men, Arsenal have lost both matches at the City Ground since Forest were promoted in 2022. With a win over Manchester United in their last match at home, Forest will be dangerous here, but we are backing Arsenal to bring too much class as they secure the win.
Arsenal Win / Both Teams to Score
Fulham vs Everton preview
Wednesday, January 31 – 6:45am AEDT – Craven Cottage
Sat in 17th and winless in their past four matches, Everton need to be wary of dropping even further down the table with the threat of another points deduction imminent. Scoreless in their last two away matches, their struggles look set to continue this week as they head to Craven Cottage to face a Fulham side they haven’t beaten since 2020. Coming off a win against Arsenal in their last home match, Fulham at home looks like the safe bet here.
Fulham Win
Luton Town vs Brighton and Hove Albion preview
Wednesday, January 31 – 6:45am AEDT – Kenilworth Road
With just one loss from their past seven matches in all competitions, Luton Town are finding form as they look to jump out of the relegation zone. Hosting the in-form Brighton, Luton will be out to cause an upset. A much better side than the one that lost 4-1 in the reverse fixture, Luton should get on the board here. However, with Brighton holding European aspirations, it is hard to see them dropping points in this must-win clash.
Brighton Win / Both Teams to Score
Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United preview
Wednesday, January 31 – 7:00am AEDT – Selhurst Park
After recording their biggest loss since 2017 last weekend against Arsenal, the pressure is rising on Crystal Palace coach Roy Hodgson. Slipping down to 15th on the table and facing the last-placed Sheffield United at home provides a great opportunity to stay clear of the relegation scrap. With just two points away from home this season, it is hard to see Sheffield United causing any danger here.
Crystal Palace Win
Aston Villa vs Newcastle United preview
Wednesday, January 31 – 7:15am AEDT – Villa Park
Coming off four consecutive Premier League losses, it won’t get much easier for Newcastle this week as they face a tough away trip to Villa Park. In the midst of a battle for the top four, Aston Villa will be confident heading into this one. With Newcastle missing many of their top attacking options, back the Villans to bring this one home with the leading bookmakers.
Aston Villa Win
Manchester City vs Burnley preview
Thursday, Feburary 1 – 6:30am AEDT – Etihad Stadium
Chasing down their five-point deficit to Liverpool with a game in hand, Manchester City look set to continue their seven-match winning streak as they welcome Burnley. The highest-scoring side in the Premier League, City, should make light work of the 19th-placed side despite the absence of star forward Erling Haaland. As such, we like the look of Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to hit the scoreboard after his impressive return from injury.
Kevin De Bruyne Anytime Goal Scorer
Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford preview
Thursday, Feburary 1 – 6:30am AEDT – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Sitting on the edge of the top four, Tottenham are looking to put the pressure on the sides above them as they host a must-win clash with Brentford. With the return of star midfielder James Maddison to the line-up, expect Tottenham to create plenty of chances going forward. In particular, keep an eye on Brazilian forward Richarlison, who has scored six goals in his last six Premier League matches and is a constant threat in the air.

Liverpool vs Chelsea preview
Thursday, Feburary 1 – 7:15am AEDT – Anfield
With the news of Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp leaving the club at the end of the season, the stakes have now risen for the top-placed side to hold their gap over the chasing pack. Missing star forward Mohammed Salah, Liverpool face the dangerous Chelsea, who have won their past three Premier League matches. With the uncertainty surrounding the Liverpool attack, look for this match to support the history of eight of the last nine clashes between the sides going under the points total.
Under 2.5 Goals
West Ham vs Bournemouth preview
Friday, February 2 – 6:30am AEDT – London Stadium
Sat in sixth place, West Ham will be disappointed after conceding a 103rd minute equalizer to the last-placed Sheffield United in their past match. Looking to stay in touch with the top four, they welcome the dangerous Bournemouth to London Stadium. Led by star striker Dominic Solanke, Bournemouth have exceeded plenty of expectations so far this season. With West Ham conceding plenty of goals at home so far this season, back Solanke to continue his excellent run.
Dominic Solanke Anytime Goal Scorer
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United preview
Friday, February 2 – 7:15am AEDT – Molineux Stadium
Slipping down to eighth on the table, the pressure is building around Manchester United as they head to Molineux. Ranked 16th for goals scored, there are major concerns about their ability to capitalise on their dominance in possession. Facing a Wolves side that is undefeated in their last seven and hasn’t lost at home in their last nine, this match is set up to be a tense contest. With ten of the past eleven matches between these sides going under the total goals line, it makes sense to back the trend here.
