Round 10: Parramatta Eels v Brisbane Broncos match preview
Round 10 of the 2024 NRL Premiership continues on Friday night with an all-important clash for the Brisbane Broncos, who will travel to Parramatta and take on the struggling Eels at CommBank Stadium.
This is a must-win game for the Parramatta Eels, who sit 12th on the NRL ladder after significant losses to the Sea Eagles and Dolphins in the last fortnight. Another loss in round 10 could push them into the bottom four.
Meanwhile, the Brisbane Broncos will be eager to bounce back from a disastrous loss to the Roosters in Brisbane after they were reduced to 14 players. A loss on Friday could see them drop out of the top eight.
Brad Arthur’s Eels squad has been rocked further by injuries, with captain Clint Gutherson (knee) being replaced by Blaize Talagi at fullback. Sean Russell takes over from Morgan Harper in the centres, and Bryce Cartwright returns from a rib injury via the bench in place of Brendan Hands.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters has also been forced to make several changes. Rookie halfback Josh Rogers takes over from injured skipper Adam Reynolds (bicep), while Corey Oates starts on the wing in place of Jesse Arthars (jaw). Fletcher Baker drops to the reserves, with Jack Gosiewski named to make his club debut off the bench.

Eels v Broncos R10 betting strategy
The Broncos have improved vastly since their last clash with the Eels at CommBank Stadium, when they won by 22 points. The favourite has won 11 of the last 12 matches between these two sides, and the Broncos have covered the line in five of their last six games. The visitors simply have the talent and firepower to score enough points to cover the -8.5 handicap at -109.89 with Bet365.
In their last three losses, the Eels have conceded at least two tries per game to the opposition right centre. Sean Russell will be tasked with defending Kotoni Staggs, who has been in solid form this season. Given the Eels’ struggles in recent weeks, there is incredible value in the +650 quote for Staggs to score a double.
If the Eels are to find points anywhere, it will be through Maika Sivo. Not only does he love scoring tries at CommBank Stadium, but he has also recorded at least one try in nine of his last 10 games against the Broncos. At +105 with the top NRL bookmakers, punters can get a solid price for Sivo to score a try at any time.
