Former welterweight champion Leon Edwards will square off against rising contender Sean Brady when the UFC heads to the 02 Arena in London this Sunday morning (AEDT). Edwards will enjoy strong hometown support, but Brady is a tough competitor with the type of fight style to potentially trouble the Englishman. The latter is a slight favourite with online bookies in early markets, meaning there is plenty of value around the No.1 title contender.

Leon Edwards (22-4-0) captured the welterweight title in 2022 and defended it on two occasions, repelling Kamaru Usman via majority decision in their rematch and easily accounting for Colby Covington. Edwards had no answer to the relentless wrestling pressure of Belal Muhammad in July 2024, however, and was convincingly outpointed to lose his crown. The Brit now faces the unenviable task of taking on lower-ranked fighters as he works back toward title contention.
Edwards is a precision striker who operates from long range to pick apart opponents. This strategy can come unstuck when he is forced to operate at closer quarters or when an opponent refuses to engage. On his night, Edwards is one of the most measured and clinical welterweights to ever enter the octagon, but his psychological response to losing the belt remains a mystery heading into this contest.
Sean Brady (17-1-0) has a single loss on his professional record, also going down to Muhammad. The 32-year-old bounced back to winning form following the 2022 loss, accounting for Kelvin Gastelum and Gilbert Burns to emerge as a likely title challenger. An impressive win in London is almost certain to push Brady to the top of the welterweight rankings.
Brady’s heavily muscled frame is best employed in wrestling and grappling exchanges, and his height and reach disadvantage in this matchup means he is likely to be outpointed on the feet. If he is unable to take the action to the mat, the American will suffer a frustrating lesson in pinpoint striking that will be reflected on the scorecards. But if the takedowns do arrive and he can rush Edwards, Brady might be able to manhandle his way to a breakout victory.
Edwards v Brady UFC Fight Night predictions
This fight will be decided by where the action takes place and at what pace. If Edwards can control the tempo across five rounds, his fight IQ might be too much for the less experienced Brady. If the former champ can establish his jab and kicks early, he should be able to slowly pick Brady apart. At the odds, the Brit represents solid value with leading UFC bookmakers to get back on top in London.
