Dubai option for Music Magnate

Trainer Bjorn Baker has plans to take Music Magnate to Dubai for the Group One Al Quoz Sprint.

Group One winner Music Magnate’s successful return from injury has further fuelled his trainer’s ambition to take him to Dubai for the Al Quoz Sprint.

Australian sprinters Ortensia (2012) and Buffering (2016) have won the rich race which was then over 1000 metres on World Cup night.

It is now over 1200 metres, a distance Baker believes will suit the 2016 Doomben 10,000 winner.

Music Magnate won the $150,000 Listed Christmas Classic (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday at his first start since May after having chips removed from his fetlocks.

“We’ve nominated him for the Al Quoz on the 31st of March. It’s a definite option,” Baker told Sky Sports Radio.

“He is guaranteed a good track in Dubai and you never know what you are going to get here or in Brisbane.

“He will have his vaccinations in the next week or so and then there is a lead-up race three weeks before the Al Quoz.

“I’m keen to get him up there.”

If Music Magnate doesn’t go to Dubai, a defence of the Group Two Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on February 3 is the home-town option.

The gelding has had 20 starts for nine wins and five placings and has earned his owners, who include Baker, more than $1.1 million.
