Dream Finnish passed fit for Eagle Farm

Talented mare Dream Finnish has passed a veterinary inspection and is ready to resume at Eagle Farm.

Dream Finnish showed she had a future as a stayer with a strong win over 1800m at Eagle Farm on December 3.

But at her next start at Doomben in an Open Quality race she failed to finish and was found to have suffered cardiac arrhythmia.

Trainer Michael Nolan immediately turned her out for a good rest.

“We gave her a couple of weeks where she did nothing,” Nolan said.

“Then we had our vets monitor her. Dream Finnish had a jump-out on Tuesday morning and went strongly before the vet gave her the all clear.

“He tested her heart after the jump-out and everything was fine.”

Dream Finnish will run in Saturday’s Open Hcp (1200m) at Eagle Farm and then press on into the early winter.

“We are getting her ready for the Toowoomba Cup (April 8) but she does race well fresh and she has won three of her four starts at 1200 metres,” Nolan said.

Nolan has booked in-form jockey Ron Stewart for Dream Finnish after noting the jockey’s good recent form.

“He is riding very well and is getting big wraps from a lot of other trainers,” he said.

Nolan has won every major race on his home track of Toowoomba including the Toowoomba Cup with Tis Love in 2001.

The trainer has stuck with Michael Hellyer who rides Frightening Bolt in the Sapphire Recruitment Handicap, one of the few 2400m races run in Brisbane each season.

Frightening Bolt has run second at his past two starts in open company staying races.

“He is fit and well and appears to be suited at 2400 metres on his breeding. MIchael knows exactly how to time his run,” Nolan said.

Frightening Bolt, who has won five races, gave his sire Frightening his first race winner when he won his maiden in April 2014.

Frightening, who has had limited runners, was bred by the late Bart Cummings who trained him to win the 2003 Moonee Valley Gold Cup and Coongy Handicap.:
