Dolphins vs St George Dragons NRL preview
The final game of round two of the NRL Premiership wraps up in Redcliffe with the Dolphins hosting the St George Dragons at Kayo Stadium. The Dolphins will be playing their first game for their season in front of home fans, aiming to stop the Dragons from a second match in as many weeks.
Dolphins head coach Wayne Bennett has been forced to make two changes with Connelly Lemuelu (injury, knee) and Ray Stone (concussion) both ruled out of this match. Euan Aitken has been named to start in the second row, Max Plath will start at lock, and Jarrod Wallace will come off the interchange bench. Bennett has also opted to replace Tesi Niu with Jake Averillo in the centres and Sean O’Sullivan with Isaiya Katoa in the halves.
St George Illawarra Dragons‘ new head coach Shane Flanagan, will welcome Blake Lawrie to the starting front-row position and Luciano Leilua to the interchange in place of Viliame Fifita and Ben Murdoch-Masila.

Dolphins vs Dragons tips 17/3/2024
While the Dragons have lost thirteen of their last fourteen interstate matches, they appear to be a completely different side under coach Flanagan with the leadership of captain and halfback Ben Hunt on the field. When these two sides last met, the Dragons were without captain Hunt and front row enforcer Blake Lawrie. Based on their match in the first game of the season, $1.80 is a great value play for the Dragons to win in Redcliffe with the top Australian bookies.
Jamayne Isaako was in career-best form at the end of 2023 as the leading point-scorer and second-leading try-scorer in the NRL. He has an elite ability to score tries, scoring at least one try in six of the Dolphins’ last seven games. Expect his try-scoring streak to continue as he makes it seven from eight tries at any time ($1.85) during the match on Sunday.
Tyrell Sloan had a phenomenal start to his 2024 season last weekend, scoring the first try on the second minute of the match and going on to record a hat trick against the Titans on the Gold Coast. He appears to have a newfound confidence in the better attacking structure under coach Flanagan and $2.20 is great value to score a try at any time during the match.
