Dolphins vs Canberra Raiders round 13 match preview

The final match for round 13 of Super Saturday football is a clash between both sides looking to bounce back from a loss last weekend with the Dolphins hosting the Canberra Raiders at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe.

Following their red-hot start to the season, the Raiders have struggled, winning two of their last five games. They were belted by the Roosters in Canberra last weekend, and the Raiders will need a win to return to the top eight on the NRL ladder.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins have won they’re of their last five matches but lost in a close match with the Warriors in round 12. A win at home in this match should see them return to the top four on the ladder.

Canberra Raiders head coach Ricky Stuart will be without Hudson Young who has been called into the New South Wales Blues side. Ata Mariota will start in the second row with Simi Sasagi to come off the interchange bench.

Dolphins head coach Wanye Bennett will also be without representative stars Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Felise Kaufusi who were selected for the Queensland Maroons. Trai Fuller will start at fullback with Connolly Lemuelu named in the second row. Kodi Nikorima (calf) has been ruled out of this match with Anthony Milford expected to take his place in the halves.

Dolphins v Raiders Rd 13 betting predictions

The Dolphins opened as favourites with the top NRL bookmakers, with no changes expected to come before kick-off.

The last time these two sides met was at McDonalds Park in Wagga Wagga where Raider Jamal Fogarty kicked a field goal in extra time to win the match. Unfortunately, the Raiders will be without Fogarty as well as Young for this match. Despite suffering more changes to their side, the Dolphins will be expected to put in a solid performance and win (-156.25) in front of their home crowd.

The Raiders have struggled to win since losing Fogarty, and they’ve failed to score 16 points or more in their last three losses. The Dolphins have also struggled at their home ground with each of their last four games finishing below the total match points line. Expect another low-scoring affair in this match with less than 49.5 total match points scored (-111.11).

Dolphins’ edge-forward Connelly Lemuelu has started in each of his last four games, scoring a try to go with two line breaks and eight tackle breaks. Last season, as a more regular starter, he scored seven tries with eleven line breaks. With more time on the field, Lemuelu’s form should improve enough for him to score his second try for the season in this clash (-111.11).
