Dolphins v Rabbitohs NRL Round 1 clash moved to Sydney
The NRL has confirmed that Friday’s Round 1 clash between the Dolphins and Rabbitohs has been moved to CommBank Stadium in Sydney.
The match was scheduled to be played at Suncorp Stadium, but the onset of Tropical Cyclone Alfred in the Brisbane area this week has forced the league to act due to safety concerns.
The fixture remains in its original timeslot of 8pm AEDT on March 7, although it is now a South Sydney home game.
As a result, the Round 17 clash between the Rabbitohs and Dolphins becomes a home game for the Redcliffe-based club.

The change in venue has led to some fluctuation in NRL betting odds for the contest, with the Rabbitohs’ head-to-head price falling from $2.27 to as short as $1.96.
Those markets have begun to level out again, however, with Marantelli Bet now quoting the Dolphins at $1.72 and Souths at $2.13.
Top bookmakers have the handicap set at 1.5 points, while the over/under is at 43.5 total points.
This is just the latest in several forced changes to Australian sporting schedules this week, with the AFL confirming on Tuesday that two of its Opening Round matches would be postponed.
