Darren Weir equals training record

Champion trainer Darren Weir has equalled his Commonwealth record of 348 wins in a season with the victory of Try Four at Warrnambool.

Try Four won the opening race on Thursday, the final day of Warrnambool’s three-day carnival, the Champion Novice Hurdle over 3200m.

The victory gave Weir his 10th carnival winner from the first 21 races of the meeting.

Weir’s 348th winner last season came in July.
