Craven Plate option for Volkstok’n’barrell
New Zealand trainers Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs are keeping their options open with Volkstok’n’barrell who could make a return trip to Sydney if the weather is wet at home.
Volkstok’n’barell is scheduled to run in Saturday’s Group One Livamol Classic (2040m) at Hastings but could be diverted to the $500,000 Group Three Craven Plate (2000m) at Randwick a week later.
“He’s ready for Hastings as long as the rain stays away,” Logan told NZ Racnig Desk.

“If it’s wet, and I hope it isn’t, he won’t run.
“We’ve looked at the option of running him in Sydney a week later.”
On his first trip to Sydney in 2015, Volkstok’n’barrell won the Group One Rosehill Guineas and finished third in the ATC Australian Derby won by another New Zealander, Mongolian Khan.
He returned in the autumn of 2016 for the Doncaster Mile but was unplaced on a wet track behind Winx.
