Colosseum Showdown: Zuckerberg vs. Musk – The battle of the tech titans
Reports suggest that the Italian government has proposed the Colosseum in Rome as the venue for a highly anticipated showdown between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk; these tech moguls, who rank among the wealthiest individuals in the world, had expressed their intention to engage in a cage fight, promising a clash that would be remembered for generations.
UFC president Dana White threw his support behind the event, proclaiming it as the greatest fight in history, and although initially slated for Las Vegas, it appears that the billionaire combatants may have found an alternative location.
According to TMZ, the Italian Minister of Culture reached out to the head of Meta, Zuckerberg’s company, extending an invitation to host the UFC fight at the legendary Colosseum; both Zuckerberg and Musk have reportedly shown enthusiasm for bringing their battle to this iconic venue, with Musk even tweeting, “Some chance fight happens in Colosseum.”
However, it should be noted that the ancient amphitheater can accommodate only a few hundred spectators with the use of temporary seating; in the past, it has hosted exclusive concerts, such as Sir Paul McCartney’s charity performance in 2003, attended by 400 people who paid up to $1,500 for tickets.
Now, Zuckerberg and Musk might be poised to deliver a spectacle that rivals the gladiatorial contests of ancient Rome, but it remains uncertain whether the fight would take place inside or outside the Colosseum, as there have been concerts held in both settings.
The idea for the match arose when Musk, 51, commented on a post about Zuckerberg’s rumored project called Threads, which is said to rival Twitter; Zuckerberg, 39, responded on his Instagram story, sharing Musk’s challenge and writing, “Send me location.”
UFC president Dana White confirmed the seriousness of both parties involved, stating, “Talked with Mark and Elon… both guys are absolutely dead serious about this”; he also predicted that it could become the most-watched fight in history, surpassing the Mayweather vs. McGregor bout.
White proposed Las Vegas as a potential location for the fight and hinted at a pay-per-view price of $100, $20 higher than the standard fee for UFC events; Musk, who has trained in various martial arts disciplines throughout his life, including Kyokushin karate, taekwondo, judo, and brief experience in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, has already begun preparations for the fight and accepted the assistance of UFC legend Georges St Pierre, who reached out to Musk and offered to be his training partner, which Musk eagerly accepted, demonstrating his commitment with two fire emojis.
While St Pierre’s expertise in mixed martial arts could pose a challenge for Musk, the Meta CEO has also demonstrated his jiu-jitsu skills by participating in a tournament in May; as the anticipation builds, fight fans around the world eagerly await official announcements regarding the date and venue of this monumental showdown between two tech industry titans.
