Henry Cejudo (16-4-0) has fought elite competition throughout his decorated UFC career. However, the 38-year-old has dropped his last two bouts: a split-decision loss to Aljamain Sterling in 2023, and a more comprehensive points loss to Merab Dvalishvili in February 2024. This recent loss of form has the veteran as a pronounced betting outsider with leading UFC bookmakers.
Cejudo earned his flyweight and bantamweight titles by combining world-class wrestling with a solid stand-up game and Olympic-level athleticism. He brings enormous pressure to opponents, backing them up while throwing level changes and strikes from a variety of angles. Song Yadong (21-8-1) brings slightly superior form into this bout, albeit against lesser opposition. After defeating Chris Gutierrez and Ricky Simon in 2023, he suffered a decision loss to Petr Yan to March 2024. The 27-year-old has been extremely active throughout his MMA career, stacking up 30 professional fights since 2013, and the level of wear and tear that comes with such output must be considered when assessing his chances.
Song is a powerful striker, with nine of his professional wins coming via knockout. This type of aggression can be costly, and the Chinese fighter has been knocked out twice — most recently in 2023 when stopped by Cory Sandhagen. Song has been less successful with the judges, with five of his professional losses coming via the scorecards. If the betting favourite is unable to find his striking range, he may struggle to justify the confidence shown in his prospects.
