Catchy wins Blue Diamond Stakes
The decision by jockey Craig Williams to stick with Catchy as his ride in the Blue Diamond Stakes has been rewarded, with the filly maintaining an unbeaten start to her career with victory in the $1.5 million Group One race at Caulfield.
Williams was spoiled for choice, having ridden five of the leading contenders heading into Saturday’s race, but stuck with Catchy and the filly stormed home to defeat the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Pariah, with Catchy’s stablemate Formality taking third.
Catchy has added to David Hayes’ record haul for a trainer in the Blue Diamond, giving Hayes his sixth win in Victoria’s premier juvenile race and his first since forming a partnership with his son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig.
