Byrne’s winners keep coming
Jim Byrne is closing in on a Brisbane record with four winners at Doomben taking him to 1276 in the Queensland capital.
He copped a suspension on Saturday but some time early this season he will become the first jockey to ride 1300 winners in Brisbane.
Byrne has ridden four winners in a day at least eight times in a career which stretches back nearly 30 years.

Byrne has ridden five winners in a day on three occasions and has won the Brisbane premiership four times.
“Funny thing is I probably could have ridden two more winners on Saturday,” Byrne said.
“But any day you ride four winners can’t be bad. It is a lot harder than you would think.”
In the absence of premier jockey Jeff Lloyd because of suspension, Byrne has ridden five winners in the season.
