Bundesliga Matchday 22 soccer tips, betting predictions & odds
The thrilling 2023/24 Bundesliga season continues this weekend with nine matches of top-tier German football action. Below are our free soccer betting tips for Matchday 22.
FC Koln vs Werder Bremen
Saturday, February 17 – 6:30am AEDT – RheinEnergieStadion
After securing a critical point away at Hoffenheim last weekend, the 16th-placed FC Koln continue their unlikely chase out of the relegation zone as they host Werder Bremen. Having lost 7-1 at the RheinEnergieStadion last season, Werder Bremen will be out for revenge as they search for their first win in Cologne in nearly 20 years. Despite their poor positioning on the table, FC Koln have lost only once in their past five matches, so back them in for another solid contest against better opposition.
Draw
SV Darmstadt vs VfB Stuttgart
Sunday, February 18 – 1:30am AEDT – Merck-Stadion am Bollenfalltor
Following a comfortable 3-1 win over Mainz, VfB Stuttgart continue to defy expectations as they sit in third place. On the road this weekend, they face the last-placed SV Darmstadt, who cannot stop conceding goals. After a short return off the bench last weekend, Stuttgart are also set to be boosted by the return of leading scorer Serhou Guirassy to the starting lineup, and he should be their focal point going forward.

FC Heidenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen
Sunday, February 18 – 1:30am AEDT – Voith-Arena
Sitting five points clear at the top after their dominant 3-0 win over Bayern Munich, the fairytale season continues for the undefeated Bayer Leverkusen. Headed to Heidenheim this weekend, expect their run to continue as they look to end the home side’s eight-match unbeaten run. While the odds are skewed in favour of Leverkusen, keep an eye out for breakout forward Nathan Tella, who has three goals and an assist in his last four games in the absence of the injured Victor Boniface.

TSG Hoffenheim vs Union Berlin
Sunday, February 18 – 1:30am AEDT – PreZero Arena
Winless in their past seven matches, it took a 95th-minute equaliser against FC Koln for TSG Hoffenheim to stay in the top half of the table. Back at home this week, Hoffenheim have a great chance to end their slump as they look to complete the double over relegation contender Union Berlin. However, Union enter this match with just one loss from their past four and offer good value as the underdog.
Union Berlin to win
FSV Mainz vs FC Augsburg
Sunday, February 18 – 1:30am AEDT – MEWA ARENA
On an 11-match winless streak and sitting in 17th position, Mainz are facing almost-certain relegation as they sit nine points clear of safety. Needing a miracle to turn their season around, they welcome FC Augsburg, who are also in a form slump with one win from their past eight matches. While picking a result may be difficult, in a match between two of the worst defences in the Bundesliga, back both teams to get on the scoresheet.
Both team to score
VfL Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund
Sunday, February 18 – 1:30am AEDT – Volkswagen Arena
In the midst of a tense top-four battle, Borussia Dortmund continued their run of seven matches unbeaten with a clinical 3-0 win over Freiburg. Heading to Wolfsburg this weekend, expect much of the same as they face a side with just one win from their past nine. One particularly encouraging aspect of that unbeaten run has been the form of striker Niclas Fullkrug, who has five goals and two assists in his past four games and should continue his excellent run on the weekend.

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Sunday, February 18 – 4:30am AEDT – Red Bull Arena
With just one win from six matches in 2024, RB Leipzig will be keen to get their season back on track as they welcome Borussia Monchengladbach. Regularly a European contender, Monchengladbach are having a horrible season as they sit just six points clear of the drop zone. Monchengladbach have conceded the second-most goals in the Bundesliga this season, which is something the Leipzig top scorer Ikoma-Lois Openda will be keen to make the most of.

SC Freiburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Monday, February 19 – 1:30am AEDT – Europa-Park Stadion
In a critical match for the top six positions, it’s sixth against seventh in Freiburg this weekend as the home side looks to break a run of three straight losses against Eintracht Frankfurt. As these are two of the lowest-scoring sides in the top half of the table, expect this to be a tight contest similar to their 0-0 draw earlier this season as both sides have plenty to lose.
Under 2.5 goals
VfL Bochum vs Bayern Munich
Monday, February 19 – 3:30am AEDT – Vonovia Ruhrstadion
After their 3-0 loss to Leverkusen left them five points behind the leaders, the pressure has risen on Bayern Munich to return to their regular ruthless ways. Heading to Bochum this weekend, expect the 11-time defending champions to get back on the winners’ list in a result similar to the 7-0 thumping earlier in the season. However, with the odds skewed in favour of the visitors, look to add the handicap of -2 for extra value.
Bayern Munich -2
