Bundesliga Matchday 21 preview, betting tips & best odds
The 2023/24 Bundesliga season continues this weekend with nine critical matches, including a massive top-of-the-table clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. Below are our free German soccer betting tips and predictions for Matchday 21.
Borussia Dortmund vs SC Freiburg
Saturday, February 10 – 6:30am AEDT – Signal Iduna Park
Sat in fourth place and undefeated in their past six Bundesliga matches, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to carry on their good form as they welcome SC Freiburg this weekend. With their last win in Dortmund coming back in 2001, don’t expect this record to be broken any time soon as Freiburg enter this match on a two-match losing streak. With Dortmund conceding just one goal in 2024 and Freiburg holding the worst attacking record in the top 10, look to pair the result with a clean sheet.
Borussia Dortmund to win to nil
FC Augsburg vs RB Leipzig
Sunday, February 11 – 1:30am AEDT – WWK Arena
Following a run of three successive defeats, RB Leipzig finally returned to form last weekend with a 2-0 win over Union Berlin. Sat just one point out of the top four, they face a critical match as they head to Augsburg this weekend. Prone to defensive errors, Augsburg seem unlikely to cause an upset as they look to break a 14-match winless run against RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig to win
Borussia Monchengladbach vs SV Darmstadt
Sunday, February 11 – 1:30am AEDT – BORUSSIA-PARK
Sitting on the bottom of the table, SV Darmstadt have now extended their winless run to 14 games and sit six points away from safety. Heading to Monchengladbach, it is a clash between the two worst defensive sides in the Bundesliga. At home, Borussia Monchengladbach should be too strong, but watch out for their leaky defence as SV Darmstadt should also get on the board.
Borussia Monchengladbach / Both teams to score
Eintracht Frankfurt vs VfL Bochum
Sunday, February 11 – 1:30am AEDT – Deutsche Bank Park
After their upset loss to relegation contender FC Koln last weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt need to bounce back in order to maintain their spot in the top six. Welcoming VfL Bochum, who they have beaten just once in their past five meetings, this is a real danger game for Frankfurt. However, as the third-best defence in the Bundesliga faces one of the worst attacks, backing the under is the safe move.
Under 2.5 goals
Union Berlin vs VfL Wolfsburg
Sunday, February 11 – 1:30am AEDT – Stadion An der Alten Forsterei
On a run of four straight defeats in the Bundesliga, the 11th-placed Wolfsburg are certainly consistent at the moment. On the road this weekend, they will be hoping to end the streak as they look to complete the double over Union Berlin this season. However, on the road they may struggle as they haven’t kept a clean sheet in six matches, so the draw looks a good shout.
Draw
Werder Bremen vs FC Heidenheim
Sunday, February 11 – 1:30am AEDT – wohninvest WESERSTADION
On a three-match winning streak, Werder Bremen have completely turned their season around to move into the top half of the table. Similarly, FC Heidenheim are undefeated in their past seven matches to sit just two points behind in 10th. While Werder Bremen come into this match as favourites with most online bookmakers, FC Heidenheim won the reverse fixture 4-2 and come into this off a string of four straight draws, so we like this one to be close too.
Draw
Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich
Sunday, February 11 – 4:30am AEDT – BayArena
The result of this blockbuster bout will go a long way towards deciding the Bundesliga title. Still undefeated this season, Bayer Leverkusen are the best defensive side in the competition, something that will be tested as they face Harry Kane and the Bayern Munich attack. While picking a result in this one should be tough, expect plenty of goals as the two best attacks in the Bundesliga face off.
Over 3.5 goals
VfB Stuttgart vs FSV Mainz
Monday, February 12 – 1:30am AEDT – MHPArena
Continuing their stellar run into the top four this season, Stuttgart secured an excellent 3-1 win on the road at Freiburg last weekend. With both Dortmund and Leipzig just behind, Stuttgart have an excellent chance to continue their good form as they welcome the 17th-placed Mainz. While the home side should be too strong, Stuttgart haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past six matches, so look for both teams to score for added value.
Stuttgart / Both teams to score
TSG Hoffenheim vs FC Koln
Monday, February 12 – 3:30am AEDT – PreZero Arena
On a six-match winless run, TSG Hoffenheim are having a mid-season slump. Welcoming FC Koln this week, they have a real chance to halt their slide as they face the lowest-scoring side in the Bundesliga. However, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past 17 matches, and with FC Koln losing just one of their past five, this could be closer than expected.
