Bundesliga Matchday 19 preview, free soccer bets and odds
With the table taking shape as we pass the halfway point of the season, the Bundesliga action continues this weekend with nine critical matches. Here are our previews for Matchday 19 of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season:
Eintracht Frankfurt vs FSV Mainz preview
Saturday, January 27 – 6:30am AEDT – Deutsche Bank Arena
Sitting on the edge of the European positions, Eintracht Frankfurt will be disappointed after they gave up a late equaliser last weekend. Back at home this week, they welcome the 16th-placed FSV Mainz. Despite sitting undefeated in their last three, Mainz should struggle here, as they are winless in their last 10 away games and haven’t beaten Frankfurt since 2019.
Frankfurt Win
FC Augsburg vs Bayern Munich preview
Sunday, January 28 – 1:30am AEDT – WWK Arena
After dropping points last weekend, Bayern Munich returned to winning ways during their mid-week clash with Union Berlin. Still four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern will be sure to keep the pressure on as they head to Augsburg this weekend. With the odds heavily skewed in favour of the visitors, look to add the total goals market, with the past three clashes between the sides going over 2.5 goals.
Bayern Munich Win / Over 2.5 Goals
TSG Hoffenheim vs FC Heidenheim preview
Sunday, January 28 – 1:30am AEDT – PreZero Arena
Undefeated in their last five, FC Heidenheim come into this match in excellent form as they continue to exceed expectations. On the other hand, Hoffenheim, despite sitting higher on the table, have won just one of their past nine Bundesliga matches. While the home team is tipped to break their poor run of form, the away side offers great value for an upset at +320with the leading bookmakers.
FC Heidenheim Win
VfB Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig preview
Sunday, January 28 – 1:30am AEDT – MHPArena
After going down to a 91st minute winner against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, RB Leipzig will be keen to return to form as they face a tough top-four clash with VfB Stuttgart. Since the start of international competition, Stuttgart has struggled with the absence of key players as they have lost consecutive matches to bottom-six sides. While Leipzig are also winless in their last three, they are playing much more impressive football and should be too good on the road.
RB Leipzig Win
Werder Bremen vs SC Freiburg preview
Sunday, January 27 – 1:30am AEDT – wohninvest WESERSTADION
After their incredible upset win over Bayern Munich last weekend, Werder Bremen have worked their way out of the relegation fight. Freiburg also come into this match with confidence after scoring a late winner against Hoffenheim despite being down to ten men. With the match held in Bremen, it is hard to pick which way this match will go, but with five of the last six matches between the sides going under the total goals line, we are backing the trend to continue.
Under 2.5 Goals
VfL Wolfsburg vs FC Koln preview
Sunday, January 28 – 1:30am AEDT – Volkswagen Arena
Sat in 17th with the worst defence in the Bundesliga, FC Koln’s struggles look set to continue as they face 11th-placed VfL Wolfsburg. With just one loss in their past four, Wolfsburg are steadily keeping themselves away from the relegation fight. Winners of the past two clashes between the sides, back the home team here.
Vfl Wolfsburg Win
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Monchengladbach preview
Sunday, January 28 – 4:30am AEDT – BayArena
After Bayern Munich dropped points last weekend, Bayer Leverkusen now find themselves even further ahead at the top of the table. Still undefeated, Leverkusen welcomes 12th-placed Borussia Monchengladbach. In a match they are expected to dominate, keep an eye out for full-back Alex Grimaldo, who has been everywhere so far this season with seven goals and eight assists.

Union Berlin vs SV Darmstadt preview
Monday, January 29 – 1:30am AEDT – Stadion An der Alten Fosterei
In a critical match for the relegation picture, Union Berlin hosts the last-placed SV Darmstadt. For Union Berlin, it has been their attack that has caused their struggles this season, as they are one of the worst offences in the Bundesliga and haven’t scored in their past two matches. However, SV Darmstadt have the worst defensive record in the league and haven’t won a match in their last 12 attempts. With Berlin at home and a much better side than 15th place would suggest, they should be too good here.
Union Berlin Win
Borussia Dortmund vs VfL Bochum preview
Monday, January 29 – 3:30am AEDT – Signal Iduna Park
Still sitting outside the top four, Borussia Dortmund have now comfortably won their past two matches to sit just a point behind third place. Welcoming the 14th-placed VfL Bochum this weekend, Dortmund should be far too good at home. Coming over on loan at the start of January, English winger Jadon Sancho has already impressed, working his way into the starting lineup, and is proving a dangerous target up front.
