Brown suspended but can ride in Tiara
Sydney jockey Corey Brown will be able to ride at the final Group One meeting of the season at Doomben despite being suspended at Ipswich.
Brown rode the Darren Beadman trained Reverine to win Saturday’s Bundamba Plate and pleaded guilty to causing interference on the home turn.
Stewards said Brown allowed Reverine to shift at the 250m mark causing two runners to be tightened and suspended him for 11 days to start at the end of Saturday’s meeting.
Apprentice Ruby Ride, who was suspended for seven days at Toowoomba on Friday, will serve an extra five days after being found guilty of excessive whip use on third-placed Cornrow in Saturday’s second race.
Another Queensland apprentice, Toowoomba’s Baylee Nothdurft, will front an inquiry this week after allegations of betting on thoroughbreds.
The inquiry is set down for Wednesday afternoon.
Nothdurft is the leading apprentice on the Darling Downs and was expected to be granted his metropolitan permit to ride later this year.
He has been stood down pending the hearing.
