Broncos v Bulldogs match preview
A rejuvenated Brisbane Broncos side will host the brilliant Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to kick off Saturday afternoon football for round 21 of the 2024 NRL season.
Despite losing four of their past five matches, Brisbane have shortened from $1.48 into $1.35 in the head-to-head betting at Neds. The return of Adam Reynolds and his State of Origin representative teammates has sparked a change in the Broncos, who beat the Knights 30-14 last week to move within four points of the finals places.
Canterbury — listed as $3.25 underdogs with rugby league bookies — have been the surprise side of the season. They sit sixth on the ladder, with a chance of ascending as high as fourth with a win in Brisbane. Having won three of their last five games, the Bulldogs are primed to make a long-awaited return to finals football.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters has been forced to make one change with Brendan Piakura (groin) out injured. Kobe Hetherington has been named to start in the second row, with Blake Mozer being elevated to the interchange.
Cameron Ciraldo has made just one change to the Bulldogs bench, dropping Harry Hayes for Lipoi Hopoi.

Broncos v Bulldogs NRL predictions
Brisbane have won and covered the line in each of their last five clashes with Canterbury, with four of those coming by at least 13 points. Given the home side has won 17 of the Bulldogs’ last 18 matches, the Broncos to win by 13 points or more looks a safe bet at $2.20 with top NRL bookmakers.
Broncos and Maroons star Selwyn Cobbo returns to the right wing following a somewhat difficult spell in the centres. His ‘difficult’ start to the year still yielded five tries in 15 matches, with almost 100 tackle breaks and 13 line breaks. The Bulldogs have conceded tries to the opposition right winger in seven of their last eight games, and $1.67 is a great price for Cobbo score again.
Brisbane fullback Reece Walsh returned in style from the Origin arena last weekend to slice through the Knights defence and score a try in his side’s 16-point win. He has scored tries in six of his last eight appearances, including against the Panthers. At $1.75 with Bet365, he looks a safe play to cross the stripe at some stage.
