Broncos gun TC Robati facing ax over latest criminal charge
News Corp is reporting that Brisbane Broncos forward TC Robati could be sacked following his latest off-field incident.
The young gun has been stood down by the Broncos following his third criminal charge in 12 months.
In 2021, Robati had his driver’s licence suspended for six months and was fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Following that incident, Robati was again pulled over and charged by police for driving without a valid licence.
Robati’s third, and most serious incident, occurred when he was alleged to have sexually assaulted a female in a Brisbane venue on December 21.
The 21-year-old is set to face court in January.
Following several off-field incidents for the Broncos after the end of the 2022 NRL season, including issues with Reece Walsh, Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy drew “a line in the sand” at the club when it came to player behaviour.
“We’ve got a really strong culture, a culture that cares… it’s a great privilege to play for the Broncos and it comes with great responsibilities too,” said Donaghy.
“We’ve done a lot of work in terms of our values and standards. To me, that underpins the culture.
“We’ve got some really strong and capable leaders. They’re leading the charge with this group… there’s a line in the sand, an opportunity to build… until the first trial.
“I addressed it early in the preseason and I don’t believe I need to again.”
Robati is currently under contract at the Broncos until 2024.
