Brisbane jockeys again warned on whip use
Queensland stewards have warned they will not ease up on penalties for breaches of the whip rules after fining three jockeys at Doomben.
Michael Cahill was fined $300 for using the whip nine times before the 100m on winner Perilous Love in Saturday’s Girls Day Out Handicap.

Michael Murphy was fined $200 for using the whip eight times before the 100m on Idle Situation in the same race and Brad Stewart was also fined $200 for using the whip nine times before the 100m on Johnny Whitesox in the Three-Year-Old Handicap.
Chairman of stewards Daniel Aurisch said jockeys had plenty of experience under the whip rules and there was no excuse for breaking them.
“They should be aware by now we will enforce them at every meeting,” Aurisch said.
