Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder BBL preview
Match 16 of the BBL13 season will be in Brisbane, with the high-flying Heat hosting the Sydney Thunder at The Gabba.
The Brisbane Heat lead the BBL13 competition, getting three wins from their four matches with one no-result. Opener and captain Colin Munro has led from the front with bat in hand and is the “Golden Bat” leader as the competition’s leading run-scorer. With the ball, it’s been Mitchell Swepson, Xavier Bartlett, and “Tall” Paul Walter who have taken six wickets each already this season and sit one wicket behind competition leader Jason Behrendorff.
The Sydney Thunder got their first win of the season against the Stars in Albury thanks to Zaman Khan’s man-of-the-match performance with the ball, taking three wickets for just 26 runs in his four overs, including Glenn Maxwell and Hilton Cartwright. The batting unit finished off the game well thanks to a strong batting performance, led by openers Cameron Bancroft and Alex Hales before Daniel Sams and Nathan McAndrew closed out the innings.
Both sides are expected to name unchanged sides with neither cricket club losing players to injury or higher honours.

Brisbane Heat to win
Heat top runscorer — Colin Munro
Matthew Renshaw 20+ Runs
Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder betting predictions
The Heat have had a strong start to the season, being relatively unchallenged and winning their first three matches with ease in Canberra and Melbourne. Their 103-run win in the first match of the season at The Gabba against the Stars was by far their most impressive performance. The home side return to The Gabba having won four of the last five matches, with their only loss being to the Perth Scorchers. Expect the Heat’s form to continue burning and secure another home win at -125 odds with top Australian bookmakers.
Colin Munro, the competition’s leading runscorer, has also been the leading runscorer in five of his last six matches against the Thunder. Coming in at the top of the order, Munro is allowed to bat with some patience and build his innings, while also putting the bad balls away. Look for Munro’s great run of form against the Thunder to continue by being the Heat’s top runscorer paying +200 again at Dabble.
With bat in hand, Matthew Renshaw has also been in solid form in his last four BBL matches, scoring 20+ runs on all four occasions. Renshaw can resurrect an innings when wickets are lost early, as easily as he can come to the crease late in the innings and score quickly. At -105.26 odds with PlayUp, Renshaw is a great value bet to record another 20+ run inning.
The Thunder have unearthed a leg-spinning star in Tanveer Sangha to start the BBL13 season. Sangha, in his last two matches alone against the Heat, has taken 3+ wickets in both games. The Gabba is often a wicket that suits all bowling disciplines where spinners can generate more bounce than usual and take wickets. +500 is an incredible value bet for Sangha to take 3+ wickets against the Heat on Wednesday Picklebet.
