BRC announces profit despite racing loss
The Brisbane Racing Club has made a $779,000 overall profit for the past financial year despite its racing operation again sustaining a multi-million dollar loss.
BRC Chairman Neville Bell said it was second year in a row the club had recorded an overall profit while facing problems with the Eagle Farm track again being unavailable for lengthy periods.
He said while the racing arm lost about $2.5 million, it was down from the $4.3 million racing loss from the previous financial year.
Bell said the overall income away from racing had pushed the club into the black for the financial year.
He said the club was paying off its debt much of which was for racing infrastructure.
