Cronulla Sharks star Braydon Trindall has revealed he is open to changing clubs for the 2025 NRL season.

The five-eighth becomes a free agent in six weeks’ time, with no contract confirmed yet for next year with the Sharks.

Trindall starred in Cronulla’s win over the North Queensland Cowboys last Friday night in the semi-finals, putting on a performance that included two tries, one assist, 636 kicking metres and four forced dropouts.

Now, the 25-year-old is eager to test his value on the open market.

“Yeah, I’m heading to November 1, but we’ll see how the manager goes with his talks with the club,” said Trindall, who is on a modest $300,000 salary with Cronulla.

This season has not been all plane sailing for Trindall, who thought he was going to get axed after a conduct issue earlier this year.

“I had a bit of a tough time there,” he confessed.

“Yeah 100% I was worried I’d get sacked.

“But the club backed me, and I just want to repay them by playing some good footy.”

Trindall blew over the limit and tested positive for a banned substance at a roadside checkpoint on his way to a Monday morning training session in April.

Since then, he quit alcohol for a spell and banned himself from gaming rooms across the state.

“I got the help I needed,” Trindall explained.

“I was off the drink for two months there but didn’t really want to go cold turkey on it.

“Still wanted to enjoy celebrations like weddings and stuff.

“I just wanted to get myself back to a stage where I could enjoy a nice casual drink.

“We just put it aside after the drama halfway through the year.

“I just put my turnaround down to preparation.

“I wanted to get back and prepare well and earn the trust back of the boys in the squad here and hopefully I’m doing that.

“I’m feeling really fit at the moment, you need to be fit playing these big games.”

Trindall will be hoping for a repeat performance of last weekend’s heroics when the Sharks take on the Penrith Panthers at Accor Stadium in Sydney this Saturday.

Cronulla are heavy underdogs heading into the preliminary final, with NRL bookmakers putting them at $4 to win.
