Brad Pengelly to ride in Mauritius
Brad Pengelly is the latest Australian jockey set to take up a contract to ride in Mauritius for four months.
Steven Arnold has spent the winter there and Pengelly will head to the island nation for four months as soon as the paperwork is completed.
Pengelly is one of the most experienced riders in Brisbane but has had to fight weight problems throughout his career.
He was seen at his best to win on Tumbler at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
“I still have to get the paperwork. But all being equal I should be able to leave at the end of next week,” Pengelly said.

“There is a higher weight scale there so it should suit me. I am really looking forward to the challenge.”
Pengelly had a break from racing in 2012 but since he returned in 2015 he has been based in Queensland where has ridden about 80 winners.
The only downside for Pengelly will be missing the rides on Tumbler when she heads to Sydney this spring.
“She is a very smart mare and Barry (Lockwood) has done a great job with her,” he said.
Tumbler, who has won seven of her nine starts, will target black type mares races in Sydney.
