Classique Legend’s owner Bon Ho has bought the Australian Turf Club’s Everest slot for three years.

Hong Kong businessman Boniface Ho has made a three-year commitment to The Everest by buying the Australian Turf Club’s slot in the $15 million race.

The Ho-owned Les Bridge-trained Classique Legend finished midfield in last year’s Everest and could be a contender again although he has been transferred to Hong Kong.

Ho has been active at recent yearling sales in Australia and plans to increase his presence in Sydney racing.

ATC chief executive Jamie Barkley said the three-year deal with Ho was a vote of confidence in Sydney racing.

“The Everest continues to grow its stature and influence across the racing world and we are especially thrilled that this deal will see more horses stabled and remain in Sydney to race,” Barkley said.

“Mr Ho is a passionate racing fan and one of Hong Kong’s most respected owners, so his enthusiasm to be a long-time player in Sydney and the Everest is significant.”

Ho said the Everest had captured the interest of international racing.

“The Everest is a very exciting race to be involved in and I’m delighted to be able to join with the Australian Turf Club,” he said.

“Sydney has one of the best racing programs in the world and I can now focus on our horses and look to lock in a runner for the Everest.”

Last year the Melbourne Racing Club bought the ATC slot and was represented by Schillaci Stakes winner Trekking who ran third.
