Blinkers option for Colosimo in Millions
Smart filly Colosimo could carry blinkers in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic after her impressive win at Eagle Farm.
Colosimo ($2.70) made it two wins from two starts when she beat Go Daisy ($17) by 3/4 length with the same margin to Bold Kingston ($4.80) on Saturday.
The win took Colosimo’s earnings to $49,300 which will ensure she gets a start in the $2 million race on January 14.
Trainer Steve O’Dea said Colosimo was still learning and the addition of blinkers in a high speed race such as the Magic Millions might get her to concentrate.
“It is still five weeks to the Millions and she will probably have one more start in a lead-up race. i haven’t decided which one just yet,” O’Dea said.

“But the blinkers will be something we will save for the Millions.”
Colosimo, who is by former top sprinter Foxwedge, cost the Aquis Farm syndicate $55,000 as a yearling.
O’Dea has trained a dozen winners since taking over as Aquis’ main trainer earlier this year.
“To have a genuine chance in the Millions is great for Aquis who have spent a lot of money on their stud and racing stock,’ O’Dea said.
Kerrin McEvoy, who was in the Brisbane for a State of Origin jockeys series race, gave Colosimo the run of the race behind the leaders.
